Zelensky Renews Calls For Talks With Russia









The Russian invasion of Ukraine enters its fourth week. Ukrainian President Zelensky has again called for talks with Moscow. He has said that this is a chance for Russia to minimize the damage done because of its own mistakes.

Ukraine is currently facing a sharp spike in violence. At a time, like this Zelensky has proposed to meet with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin. He has ensured that Ukraine will continue to follow the diplomatic path for the sake of a peaceful settlement.

The two sides have held several rounds of negotiation since the invasion began on February 24th. The fourth round of talks opened on Monday and took place remotely so far all rounds of talks have remained inconclusive. Russia has so far maintained its stance during the talks.

Russia's top negotiator said that Moscow and Kyiv had brought their positions as close as possible on a proposal for Ukraine to become a neutral state, but on the other hand, Zelensky's adviser has said that the country's position remains the same.

Mikhailo Podoliak said in a tweet, "The Statement of the Russian side is only their requesting positions. All statements are intended, inter alia, to provoke tension in the media. Our options are unchanged. The ceasefire, withdrawal of troops, and strong security guarantees with concrete formulas."

Zelensky and other Ukrainian officials have time and again said that the country will not succumb to any Russian demand. Previous rounds of talks have been inconclusive Ukrainian officials have maintained that they will agree to a diplomatic solution only when Russia pulls back its troops and yet again Zelensky has called upon Russia to hold meaningful talks.
